High Adventure Programs

Wilderness Survival Experience

As highlighted in the December 2004 Boy's Life Magazine, The Wilderness Survival Experience is an adventure the boys will be talking about for years. The Wilderness Survival program is open to all scouts who are at least 13 years old and have a rank of at least first class. Scouts in this program will receive a week long adventure in wilderness survival skills including natural shelters, safe water collection, fire without matches, stalking, hunting/traping and wild edible plants. In addition to the survival skills, the scouts have the potential to earn Wilderness Survival, Mammal Study, Indian Lore and Environmental Science merit badges.

Trailmaster
A Nationally Accredited BSA High Adventure Program

The Trailmaster program is designed for scouts that are at least 13 years old, and are looking for something different, exciting and varied. Trailmaster is an exciting program offering a sample of many adventuring experiences. A typical, sample week includes mountain biking, climbing/rappelling, team building, two days of whitewater (canoe, kayak, tubing, rafting) and a backpacking overnighter. Our experienced camp staff has a top of the line program planned for those who are up to the challenge. The itinerary can be customized to meet the needs of your Troop, Venture Patrol or Venture Crew. For more information about this program contact the Baden Powell Scout Office by phone at 607-648-7888 or by Email at campsec@bsamail.org.

National Youth Leadership Training

Hosted by the Baden-Powell Council Training Committee, Camp Tuscarora will be offering a two weekend program dedicated to the National Youth Leadership Training course. The program is geared to help build leadership skills for all scouts who are, or will be, in a leadership position in the unit, by offering the best in leadership skill development, troop program administration and overall camping skills. National Youth Leadership Training is open to all troop junior leaders (SPL, ASPL, PL, APL, etc.), and all prospective leaders. Dates are: June 28-30 and July 2-4, 2008 (both sessions are required to complete the course). Click here for a brochure or for more information and to sign up, contact the Council Office. White Water Adventure

Here's a chance to arrange a special afternoon trek for your troop on the nearby Delaware River. Prior arrangements must be made with the Camp Program Director. An additional fee is to be determined at camp based on the number of participants, watercraft needed, and length of trip, mileage to and from dropoff/pickup, etc. Our Council High Adventure Coordinator can customize a longer trip (full day, overnight, 3 day, full week on local rivers (Susquehanna, Delaware, Tioughnioga, Chenango).
